Cleveland Works! Cleveland Public Library Offers Help for Job Seekers
The Library and community partners provide resources and assistance for Clevelanders on their journey to employment.
Whether looking for a job, starting a business or seeking professional development, Cleveland Public Library can help. In addition to useful resources, the Library is partnering with Ohio Means Jobs and Digital Learn on a series of programs and services to help Clevelanders attain their career goals.
“COVID-19 has left a lot of people jobless, searching for work or looking to reinvent themselves. Their journey to employment can start at The People’s University,” said Felton Thomas, Jr., Executive Director and CEO of Cleveland Public Library. “We have collaborated with community organizations to create job training and development programs, job hunting tools and other resources to prepare Clevelanders for their next career.”
Every job hunter needs a resume. Our online resume and cover letter workshops ensures resumes and cover letters stand out from the competition. Not computer savvy? No problem! TechCentral offers computer classes for job hunters to learn new skills and popular technology useful in today’s workforce such Microsoft Word, Excel and more. The Library has a beginner’s class which covers computer basics, search tools and understanding email. Our Library partner, Digital Learn, assist patrons with computer basics as well as navigating social media, using mobile devices, and how to shop and access reliable health information online. In addition, Ohio Means Jobs provide Library visitors with one-on-one career counseling, coaching and support.

Entrepreneurship starts at Cleveland Public Library. Our collection has materials to aid future business owners with research on a new business venture, craft a business plan, or obtain a patent, trademark, or copyright. Inventors can also design a prototype for their next gadget or big idea in TechCentral at Main Library.
Our professional development programs can teach Clevelanders everything from new languages to accounting to design and more. “Everyone is encouraged to discover their passions, spark ingenuity and fuel their mind with knowledge at Cleveland Public Library,” remarks Winlock.
