Cleveland Public Library is seeking members of our community to serve as VOLUNTEER DOCENTS for an upcoming art installation by Rebecca Louise Law at Main Library in Downtown Cleveland. DOCENTS will welcome members of the public into this exhibit, answer questions about the project and artist, and help direct visitors to other areas of the Library staff as needed. This exhibit will be free and open to the public for one year, starting in June 2023.

Successful candidates for the DOCENT role will share the following characteristics:

  • Interest in people of all backgrounds and abilities
  • Appreciation of libraries, the arts, and the connections they make between people
  • Attentive to the needs of people and helpful in meeting them
  • Flexible, amiable, and attentive to details
  • Tolerant and respectful of different beliefs
  • Willingness to admit when they need help

Interested candidates can request an application form by emailing docent@cpl.org by June 17th, 2023. Selected DOCENTS will receive training and enjoy the many benefits of being part of Cleveland Public Library. Questions may be sent to docent@cpl.org
