Explore High Gear: Cleveland’s Premier Gay Periodical Now Available Online!

We’re thrilled to announce that High Gear, Cleveland’s leading LGBTQ+ periodical from 1974 to 1982, is now accessible online through the Cleveland Public Library’s Digital Gallery. This historic publication was originally produced by the Gay Education and Awareness Resource Foundation, which later evolved into the LGBT Center of Greater Cleveland. High Gear provides a rare and insightful look into LGBTQ+ life in the 1970s and 80s, offering readers an intimate view of past events, iconic venues, community conversations, and editorials. It’s an invaluable resource for understanding the culture and experiences of the LGBTQ+ community during a pivotal era.
