About OLBPD
In partnership with the State Library of Ohio Talking Book Program, the Ohio Library for the Blind and Print Disabled (OLBPD) operates as the Regional Library for the National Library Service (NLS) for the Blind and Print Disabled of the Library of Congress. It administers a free library program of audio and braille reading materials circulated to eligible borrowers in the State of Ohio by postage-free mail and by download.
History & Architecture
Cleveland Public Library began purchasing and circulating books in raised font in 1803. Due to its extensive collection and service area, which included the fifty-five northern counties of Ohio, Cleveland was selected as one of the original nineteen NLS charter libraries and has served as a Regional Library since 1931. In 2010, OLBPD and the State Library of Ohio were honored as the NLS Network Library of the Year.
