Community Events
The On the Road to Reading van serves as a one-stop shop for Library resources at community events, festivals, and other sites by providing free books to children and their caregivers, remote Library Card sign-ups and book check-outs, and pop-up storytimes and other engaging activities for young scholars and families. If you are interested in reserving the On the Road to Reading van at an upcoming event, please fill out our request form.
Childcare Centers
The On the Road to Reading van makes weekly visits to select childcare settings throughout the City of Cleveland, performing engaging storytimes and modeling early literacy best practices for teachers and caregivers. Contact us at earlylitvan@cpl.org to learn more.
Lobby Stops and Pediatric Settings
On the Road to Reading staff meet caregivers, children, and families where they are—connecting them with Library resources, Early Literacy Kits, and storytime programming in the lobbies of pediatric settings, laundromats, and other everyday spaces.

Cleveland Public Library invites families to join us at the Woodland Campus for a fun-filled Winter Fest! This exciting event is perfect for the whole family, offering engaging activities that combine reading, storytime, and play. We’re thrilled to introduce FamilySpace—a new, interactive play area at the Woodland Campus. Additionally, we’ll be giving away free coats for children and school-aged youth, along with providing delicious food for everyone. Don’t miss out—bring the entire family and join us for this memorable event!
About On the Road to Reading
The On the Road to Reading van is a mini children’s library on wheels—bringing Cleveland Public Library services directly to you. Van visits may include book giveaways, Library book checkouts, Library Card sign-ups, crafts, early literacy programs, games, and more! All activities are provided directly outside of the van or set up in indoor spaces.
The On the Road to Reading program provides access to free books, early literacy resources, and intergenerational programming that will foster an ongoing love of reading and learning for our youngest scholars and their families. Play, learn, and grow with us at our upcoming On the Road to Reading events!
