Central Promise Winter Fest

Cleveland Public Library invites families to join us at the Woodland Campus for a fun-filled Winter Fest! This exciting event is perfect for the whole family, offering engaging activities that combine reading, storytime, and play. We’re thrilled to introduce FamilySpace—a new, interactive play area at the Woodland Campus. Additionally, we’ll be giving away free coats for children and school-aged youth, along with providing delicious food for everyone. LegalWorks at Cleveland Public Library

LegalWorks is a non-profit organization that provides legal consultation and assistance for qualified, low-income youth and adults in underserved communities. Areas of assistance focus on legal issues that prevent people from moving forward in their lives, including expungements, sealing records, obtaining certificates of qualified employment, clearing outstanding warrants, restoring driving privileges, and other select legal matters. Service is availabe at four library locations by appointment only. About woodland

The Woodland Branch offers free wifi and public computers with Internet access. Printing, copying, scanning, and faxing services are available for a fee. Woodland’s meeting room seats up to 30 and may be reserved; please contact the branch for more information.

History & Architecture

The first building on the present site was a small Methodist chapel. At its inception, Woodland was described in the Library’s 1904 Annual Report as “a one-story colonial structure of brick, with stone trimmings, in a setting of green lawn, flowers, and shade trees.” The entrance opened into a wainscoted vestibule with a leaded glass partition.

In 1957, the building burned down and was rebuilt to open in 1961. A new building opened in 2023. The branch features an extensive Black World collection of both fiction and nonfiction materials.
