Folklore

In addition to the general folklore holdings of the Social Sciences Department, the Special Collections Department maintains one of the finest collections of research material on folklore in the United States. The John Griswold White Folklore Collection has rich holdings in proverbs, ballads, folk songs, and chapbooks, as well as important research collections such as the May Augusta Klipple African Folktale Manuscript Archives and the Newbell Niles Puckett Archives.
