Yesterday, Cleveland residents showed their support for Cleveland Public Library by voting in favor of an ambitious, multiyear capital improvement plan to transform our library branches across the city.
“We are extremely grateful to the voters of Cleveland who recognize the value of strong public libraries in their neighborhoods,” said Felton Thomas, Jr., Executive Director of Cleveland Public Library. “Our library system is nearly 150 years old, and with this vote of confidence from our community, we are prepared to make significant improvements to our branches system-wide that set the stage for our next 150.”
With the increase in voter-approved levy dollars, we plan to do the following:
- Comprehensive neighborhood capital improvement plan to provide Cleveland residents more effective access to the Library’s services, collections, and technology in the communities where they live, work, and raise their families
- Continue to provide access to services such as computers, technology instruction, children’s programs, GED classes, homework help, job search assistance, and research resources
- Purchase new books, e-books, DVDs, and other materials
“We’re excited to get started, and we look forward to working with our patrons and the community to advance our libraries into the future,” said Thomas.
